The interview will be held behind closed doors, but is set to be followed "soon" by a public hearing, according to a Judiciary Committee aide.

The voluntary appearance side-steps, for now, a subpoena from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte that initially compelled Strzok to testify in a closed-door deposition.

National Security Advisor John Bolton is traveling to Moscow this week, and according to Russian state news, he will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday. The two are expected to discuss a possible meeting between Vladimir Putin and President Trump next month. Reuters cites RIA news agency as reporting Russia also would like to discuss Syria.

"The Russian Foreign Ministry confirms information on a working meeting between Lavrov and Bolton in Moscow on Wednesday, June 27," the ministry said.

Back in DC, Republican members of Congress are digging in on investigating the investigators working on finding out to what extent Russia interfered in the 2016 election and if the Trump campaign cooperated with that effort.

CNN:

On Wednesday, the FBI agent at the center of controversy in both inquiries -- Peter Strzok -- will meet with the House Judiciary Committee behind closed doors for a deposition after being slapped with a subpoena by [Committee Chairman Bob] Goodlatte, even though Strzok had voluntarily agreed to be interviewed.

And on Thursday, the panel will hold a public hearing with FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein about the inspector general's report, giving the Republicans an opportunity to dress down the FBI and Justice Department leaders about their document requests.
