CNN was first to report that Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law and senior advisor, met with Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigators earlier this month:
Mueller's team specifically asked Kushner about former national security advisor Michael Flynn, who is under investigation by the special counsel, two sources said. Flynn was the dominant topic of the conversation, one of the sources said.
(...)
The conversation lasted less than 90 minutes, one person familiar with the meeting said, adding that Mueller's team asked Kushner to clear up some questions he was asked by lawmakers and details that emerged through media reports. One source said the nature of this conversation was principally to make sure Kushner doesn't have information that exonerates Flynn.
UPDATE: The New York Times reported Wednesday evening that Mueller's team wanted to know more from Kushner about a December meeting he had with Flynn and Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
The December meeting at Trump Tower was intended to “establish a line of communication” between the new administration and the Russian government, the White House has said. Mr. Flynn was the presidential transition team’s primary interlocutor with Mr. Kislyak. Mr. Kushner coordinated the transition team’s foreign contacts.
At that meeting, the men discussed establishing a secret communicationschannel between the Trump team and Moscow to discuss strategy in Syria and other policy issues. The idea was to have Mr. Flynn speak with a senior military official in Moscow, but the channel was never set up.
The special counsel’s interview of Mr. Kushner lasted less than an hour and did not touch on the range of topics Mr. Mueller is investigating. That leaves open the possibility that Mr. Kushner could be interviewed again.
