We'll Meet Again

The Kremlin announced Friday that Vladimir Putin and President Trump will hold a "long and thorough meeting" on the sidelines of the G20 in Argentina later this month.

That Buenos Aires conversation will be in addition to the planned get together set for November 11th in Paris when the two leaders attend a World War I commemorative event.

CNN:

[Putin's foreign policy aide Yuri] Ushakov made the remark in response to a question about future meetings between Trump and Putin.

Reuters:

The two leaders have not met face-to-face since a bilateral summit in July in Helsinki that stirred anger in the United States, where Trump was accused of cozying up to the Kremlin

Asked how long Moscow expected the meeting with Trump to last in Paris, Ushakov told reporters the meeting would be short but that a later meeting on the sidelines of the G20, taking place over Nov 30 and Dec 1, would be “lengthy and substantive”.

The White House had no immediate comment.

U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton said this week following a trip to Moscow that the White House had formally invited Putin to Washington next year.

CNN:

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has previously said that Putin expected to discuss Trump's plans to withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty during their bilateral meeting in Paris.

Trump announced last month that the US would pull out of the decades-old agreement, citing Russia's likely violations of the treaty and China's missile arsenal as reasons for ditching the accord.

Trump has met his Russian counterpart at least three times since taking office, formally at the G20 in Hamburg in 2017 and in Helsinki this summer, as well as informally at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Vietnam last November.

In July, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said that they hoped to welcome Putin to Washington for a summit this fall. But the administration scrapped that plan just days later.
