Credico Shows While Corsi Cancels

UPDATE: Credico, speaking to reporters after giving more than two hours of testimony, says his grand jury appearance was not pleasant.

Politico:

"It was like sitting on an electric chair for a couple of hours," he told POLITICO.

Credico's attorney Martin Stolar said the Mueller team — which is investigating potential links between the Trump campaign and Russia — seemed firmly focused on Stone, a longtime informal Trump confidant.

"The subject matter of the questions was primarily his relationship with Roger Stone," Stolar said. "The majority of the questioning had to do with Roger Stone."

Asked how much of the questioning Friday was about [Julian] Assange, Credico said: "Very little."

Stolar then cut him off: "No, don't. ... The specific questions we're not going to get into."

Credico said he remains a passionate supporter of Assange, but views the Mueller probe as distinct from the U.S. government's inquiries into Assange and WikiLeaks, which Secretary of State Mike Pompeo dubbed a "hostile intelligence service" while leading the CIA.

"This is a separate effort," Credico said. "I can go back and do what I was doing before, hopefully, and that is advocating for the release and the freedom of Julian Assange, who is a very close friend of mine. ... It's time to circle the wagons rather than the firing squad around Julian Assange."

The bulk of the questioning Friday was conducted by Mueller prosecutor Aaron Zelinsky, but two other prosecutors were present, Stolar said. He declined to identify the other prosecutors. The grand jurors also took an active part in the questioning, Credico said.

"I was looking at the prosecutors. I was looking at the jury sometimes. Again — pretty heavy in there for me," he said.

New York radio host, comedian, and activist Randy Credico turned up to testify before the special counsel's grand jury Friday while conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi, who also had been subpoenaed to appear, did not show.

Reuters:

... Corsi, a right-wing commentator who contributes to conspiracy theorist websites, was questioned by Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s prosecutors on Thursday but had a planned grand jury appearance for Friday put on hold, Corsi’s lawyer said. Reuters reported on Wednesday that Corsi had been subpoenaed.

The Washington Post:

Corsi’s attorney, David Gray, declined to further comment Friday. Gray had said earlier in the week that he would be speaking to the special counsel’s office on Thursday and hoped to negotiate a voluntary interview for his client in lieu of a grand jury appearance.

Gray has said the subpoena indicated that Mueller is interested in Corsi’s communications during 2016 and 2017. Gray said he believes the special counsel planned to ask about Corsi’s contacts with [Roger] Stone, who has come under intense scrutiny by Mueller’s investigators.

Corsi shared research with Stone around the same time that the longtime GOP consultant claimed publicly that he had been in contact with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and had advance knowledge of WikiLeaks’ releases of hacked Democratic emails.

This summer, other Stone associates have been interviewed or asked to appear before the grand jury.

One Stone aide, Andrew Miller, has been held in contempt of court for refusing to comply with a grand jury subpoena and is seeking to have Mueller’s investigation declared unconstitutional.
