Memo Meeting Transcript Released

News  |  Jan 31, 2018

The House Intelligence Committee met behind closed doors Monday night to vote on releasing the four-page memo written by Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) and his staff, alleging FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) misdeeds in relation to obtaining a FISA warrant against former Trump foreign policy advisor Carter Page.

The vote came down along party lines in favor of making the memo public, and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), ranking member on the committee, gave a press conference afterwards expressing his frustration and disappointment.

Now the public can read what exactly happened during that Monday night meeting.

On page 21 of the session transcript, Chairman Nunes responds to Rep. Schiff's request that the committee allow the FBI and DOJ to brief all House members in a classified setting on what impact releasing the memo might have on national security and law enforcement.

Rep. MIke Quigley (D-IL) responds to Nunes' revelation by pointing out the chairman had not consulted on these investigations with Rep. Schiff which committee rules require he do. (Rep. Schiff later verifies Quigley's assertion.) Quigley then moves on to ask the chairman if he or his staff had coordinated with the White House in crafting the memo.
