Congressional Investigation Updates

News  |  Oct 20, 2017

Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch is on Capitol Hill today. She reportedly spoke with the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday and now is meeting with House Intelligence Committee investigators who could pursue several lines of questioning:

She likely will be asked by committee investigators about knowledge of Russian efforts to spread misinformation during the campaign, or other related Russian efforts to influence the outcome...

Some lawmakers on the panel also want to know about Obama administration officials who made requests to identify Americans whose names came up during foreign intelligence gathering, a process known as "unmasking."...

Investigators may also question Lynch about her airport tarmac meeting with former President Bill Clinton in June 2016, amid the FBI’s investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while conducting government business as secretary of state.

“The Committee’s public hearing with Michael Cohen has been postponed, and will be rescheduled at a later date,” the committee’s leaders, Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), announced Friday. They did not include a reason for the delay.

Cohen was supposed to speak with investigators behind closed doors on September 19th, but when he defied the committee and released a public statement prior to appearing, Senators Richard Burr (R-NC) and Mark Warner (D-VA) scrapped the meeting and rescheduled an open hearing for October 25th.
