Representative Devin Nunes, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, continues to assert his authority in the Russia investigation, in spite of saying in April he would step down while under investigation himself for ethics violations.
On Tuesday, CNN revealed Nunes issued subpoenas to Fusion GPS, the firm that commissioned the Steele dossier, on October 4th asking for documents and testimony.
Democrats on the committee say Nunes took action without their approval. Fusion GPS' lawyer tells CNN that Glenn Simpson, Fusion's founder, already spoke with Senate Intelligence Committee investigators at length and Nunes is welcome to review that testimony first.
According to CNN, "the Fusion GPS subpoenas mark at least the fourth time Nunes has inserted himself into the investigation since his April announcement that he was temporarily stepping aside."
