Manafort Offered Oligarch Private Campaign Updates

On July 7, 2016, while working as President Trump's campaign chairman, Paul Manafort emailed an intermediary -- Konstantin Kilimnik -- offering Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska "private briefings." The emails are among tens of thousands of documents now in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's possession. Politico reports Manafort used his campaign email account to make the overtures. 

Manafort and Deripaska have worked together before. According to the Associated Press, the Russian billionaire paid Manafort $10 million a year for at least three years to lobby on behalf of the Putin government starting in 2006. Deripaska has denied this characterization of the relationship, claiming Manafort provided investment consulting.
