Trump Won't Commit to Mueller Interview

During a joint press conference with the Norwegian prime minister Wednesday afternoon, Fox reporter John Roberts asked President Trump if he would be willing to sit for an interview with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, and the president – after several declarations of "no collusion" – settled on "We'll see what happens."

Watch the exchange:

CNN:

"For 11 months, we've had this phony cloud over this administration," Trump said, calling the investigations into possible collusion between his campaign and Russia "a Democrat hoax."

The Washington Post:

Trump then questioned why he would be interviewed, arguing again there had been “no collusion” between his campaign and Russia.

“It seems unlikely you’d even have an interview,” Trump said during a news conference at the White House with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg.

Mueller’s team told Trump’s lawyers in December they are likely to request an interview with the president, The Washington Post has reported, as part of their investigation into Moscow’s meddling in the election and whether any Trump associates conspired with Russian agents.

CNN:

Despite dodging questions this week about his willingness to be interviewed by the special counsel, Trump said in June that he was "100%" willing to testify under oath about his conversations with James Comey, the FBI director he fired.
