Should Bannon Testify?

News  |  Jan 4, 2018

Excerpts from Michael Wolff's new book, Fire And Fury: Inside The Trump White House, quote former Trump campaign CEO and White House chief strategist Steve Bannon on several issues related to the ongoing Russia investigation, including the June 9th Trump Tower meeting, President Trump's role in crafting his son's press statement about the June 9th meeting, Michael Flynn's trip to Moscow, and possible money laundering.

Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Mark Warner (D-VA) told Chuck Todd on Wednesday he believes Bannon's comments are of interest and need to be proven or disproven but would not commit to saying whether or not the committee should call Bannon in to testify,

Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-NC) was more definitive on Thursday.

"I'm not sure what an individual who wants to talk (to Wolff) about a meeting that he didn't attend would be able to share about that meeting," Burr said when asked if he wants to interview Bannon. "And given we've been able to interview all but one who were in that meeting I think we've had substantial insight."
