George Papadopoulos Pleads Guilty

A third Trump campaign associate is in trouble with the law. George Papadopoulos, a foreign policy advisor, has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. From the NYT: 

A professor with close ties to the Russian government told an adviser to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in April 2016 that Moscow had “dirt” on Hillary Clinton in the form of “thousands of emails,” according to court documents unsealed Monday.

Mr. Papadopoulos told the F.B.I. in January that the professor was “a nothing.” But Mr. Papadopoulos now acknowledges that he knew the professor had “substantial connections to Russian government officials.”

CNN reports, and official documentation confirms, Papadopoulos was arrested on July 27th and since then has met with goverment officials on numerous occasions:

UPDATE: The Department of Justice has unsealed the case against Papadopoulos:  

U.S. v. George Papadopoulos (1:17-cr-182, District of Columbia)

George Papadopoulos, of Chicago, Illinois, pleaded guilty on Oct. 5, 2017, to making false statements to FBI agents, in violation of 18 U.S.C. 1001. The case was unsealed on Oct. 30, 2017.
