Stone on the Hill

News  |  Sep 26, 2017

Roger Stone, the self-described "40-year friend and advisor to Donald Trump," is meeting with House Intelligence Committee investigators behind closed doors Tuesday.

Prior to his arrival on Capitol Hill, Stone posted an opening statement in which he insists he has not done anything illegal and deeply resents any allegation he would collude with Russia.

Stone says Russians did not hack the Democratic National Committee but that the removal and leak of documents during the 2016 election was an inside job. He also attacks the intelligence community, claiming it has been politicized.

Stone's post includes a small timeline, a copy of direct messages between Stone and Guccifer 2.0, and a FactCheck article from Philly.com.

The New York Daily News points out that after Stone released his statement Monday evening, Wikileaks tweeted out a link to it, calling it a "leaked" document even though Stone put it online himself.
