Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Mark Warner (D-VA), and John McCain (R-AZ) have introduced legislation called the Honest Ads Act which they hope will help prevent future foreign influence in U.S. elections by requiring transparency in online political advertising.
From McCain's press office:
The Honest Ads Act would prevent foreign actors from influencing our elections by ensuring that political ads sold online are covered by the same rules as ads sold on TV, radio, and satellite.
Representatives Derek Kilmer (D-WA) and Mike Coffman (R-CO) are introducing companion legislation in the House today too.
