Business Insider asked three media agencies to craft Facebook advertising plans that could move swing voters in Wisconsin and Michigan in effort to show how relatively inexpensive and easy it would be.
The analyses of course make certain assumptions: that a campaign can target swing voters; that the ads actually influence the number of people who are projected to be influenced; that the people who are targeted haven't already made up their minds and are open to being influenced; that people see these ads at a relevant time (i.e. before an election).
The agencies' blueprints varied with costs ranging from $133,792 to $300,000 and each used different targeting parameters. But all showed just how specific Facebook targeting can get, identifying swing voters not only by political affiliation but also by location, education, likes and dislikes, and level of interest in certain hot button issues.
