House Intel Adds New Members

Representatives Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY), Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Val Demings (D-FL), and Peter Welch (D-VT) are the newest Democratic additions to the high profile House Intelligence Committee which will be restarting its investigation into Russian election interference.

Republicans prematurely shuttered the probe last year, declaring the far-from-comprehensive inquiry found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Politico:

Demings served as the chief of the Orlando Police Department and has been an outspoken critic of Russia for its interference in the 2016 election. Maloney, first elected to Congress in 2012, served as White House staff secretary to President Bill Clinton.

“Our new Members of the Intelligence Committee bring exceptional judgment, expertise and determination to our mission to honor that oath and, guided by the strong, principled leadership of Chairman Adam Schiff, will restore the long tradition of bipartisanship and integrity of this critical committee,” [Speaker Nancy] Pelosi (D-CA) said in a statement after announcing the new members.

The panel’s new Republican members have not yet been announced.
