Stone Won't Identify Wikileaks Connection

Roger Stone met with House Intelligence Committee investigators for approximately three hours behind closed doors on Tuesday. Afterwards, Stone held a press conference during which he described the session as "a very frank exchange" and "productive," adding he is not aware of any evidence of collusion by the Russian state with anyone in the Trump campaign.

He also took the opportunity to say President Trump should fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller because he believes Mueller has a conflict of interest.

Stone said a fair amount of the questioning revolved around communications he had with Guccifer 2.0 and may have had with Wikileaks' Julian Assange. While Stone said on August 8, 2016 he had communicated with Assange, he later said the two connected via an intermediary whom he has refused to identify. "That was the only question I declined to answer," Stone shared with reporters Tuesday.

Stone says the intermediary is a journalist and their conversation was off-the-record and only if the journalist releases him will he agree to give investigators a name. In response, Representative Adam Schiff, ranking Democrat, said the Committee may have to subpoena Stone if he is not more forthcoming with information.
